Description:
  • deciduous shrub, or small tree
  • etymology: Hydrangea from Greek hydor for water, and aggos for a jar; paniculata for flowers in panicles (branching clusters)
  • leaves opposite (whorled towards stem tip); simple, oval, toothed
  • flowers creamy white, in showy panicles
  • blooms in late summer
  • contains cyanogenic glycosides
