Description:
- small to medium-sized deciduous tree
- etymology: Tetradium from Greek for four (petals); daniellii = after William Freeman Daniell (1818-1865), British army surgeon and botanist
- scientific name formerly Euodia daniellii (synonym) (sometimes misspelled “Evodia”)
- leaves opposite, pinnately compound, glossy
- flowers small, white, showy, fragrant; in large flattened clusters (corymbs); bloom July-August; attract honeybees
- fruit small, reddish, with 2 shiny, black, bee-bee like seeds (hence the common name)
- USDA hardiness zones 4 to 8
- in Delaware, escapes from cultivation to moist woods (but not listed as Invasive, nor Invasive Watchlist, in Delaware)
